Lisa Turpin's Bio

Lisa Turpin is a born and raised Sea to Sky resident for 50 years, growing up in Lions Bay and attending school in SD45. Lisa was the Early Childhood Educator in Lions Bay, working at the local Preschool and as the care manager at her own childcare center for almost 20 years. Also, Lisa was a two-term Municipal Councillor for Lions Bay and Events Committee Volunteer with too many to list Volunteer pursuits. Post-secondary pursuits include one course short of a Business Admin Finance Certification and an Early Childhood Education Special Ed focused Diploma. Lisa then pivoted and joined the Vancouver School Board as an ECE Special Ed for several years, and after health concerns, she and her husband and son moved to Squamish in 2018, where Lisa began helping with children and youth programs with the District of Squamish.

Lisa's son was an accomplished Junior hockey player whose extracurricular activities fondly earned Lisa "The Crazy Hockey Mom" title as she volunteered for every position to support her son's passion. Even after her son finished Minor Hockey, she could often be found supporting Squamish Minor Hockey with tournaments and league appointments, ensuring players had fun first and foremost and left things better than they found them.

Childcare advocacy is a huge part of Lisa's passions, from vision and hearing screening, early years supports and supporting bully by standards to come forward to assist those who can't - as well as Fiscal Accountability and leading by example.

Lisa decided to run for the School Board so that she could continue to make a positive impact on students and families lives even after her body could no longer work in the classrooms she once loved. And when not advocating and volunteering, she can be found in her garden recharging.
