Today is International Women's Day, and it is a significant opportunity to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women throughout history and around the world while also highlighting the ongoing struggle for gender equality. This year's theme for International Women’s Day (IWD) 2023 is Every Woman Counts. It’s a reminder that all women from all ages and walks of life have a place in every aspect of Canadian society, including in the economic, social and democratic spheres. Don Ross Middle School administration has arranged speakers from Vancouver Coastal Health to present a series of lunch and learn sessions, answering questions students may have about “everything they want to know.” They started the sessions on Friday, February 24th, with a vaping awareness presentation. Around 60-70 students attended the session and were very interested in the sharing from Brandon Biln, Tobacco & Vapour Reduction Coordinator at Vancouver Coastal Health. There will be three more vaping awareness sessions before moving to mental health and self-care topics!

Calling Sea to Sky Corridor high school students! The Sea to Sky region is known for inspiring adventurers and storytellers. Whistler Grads 2023 want to see how it inspires students in its inaugural Short Film Festival. Submit your 3 to 5-minute short film to win over $2,000 in prizes!
